Game 5 Vs. Timpanogos

Tough game this week.  Our defense played well until the first shot of a posession, and then we generally failed to box out and secure rebounds.  The majority of Timp's scoring came as a result of second chance points:  grabbing rebounds and getting easy follow-up shots.

This week in practice, we will tune our defense so that we have more players closer to the rim and are in a better position to snag some rebounds.

Timp played great defense, and we were never quite able to get into our offense.  However, we still missed a ton of layups and easy shots.  The initial effort is there, we just need to continue to work and polish up our game.

Stats up to week 5:
Good news:  More balanced scoring.
Bad news:  When we don't score 30, we lose.  We haven't scored over 30 for the past two games.

Game 3: WIN vs. Timpview Thunderbirds & Stats

Nice win today.   Timpview was a hard working team who went on several runs to keep the game close.  Our defense was generally solid.

Final Score:  45-31

Upcoming Games - December

This Saturday (December 3):
vs. Timpview Thunderbirds (0-1)  12:00 PM at Springville High

Saturday, December 12:
vs. Timpview White (2-0)  2:00 PM at Timpview High
This team is undefeated, and in one case, held their opponent under 10 points.  We suspect that they'll be employing a full-court press, so we'll be working on that in practice.  This game will be a huge test for our team.

After our game on the 12th, we will have a month-long break between games.  We'll continue to have practices, and will probably arrange a couple of scrimmages with local pleasant grove teams to stay sharp.

Game 2 - vs. Westlake Thunder - WIN

Nice win!  Defense was phenomenal.  Offense started slowly, but got into the groove.  We need to work better as a team on offense, and we'll be working on that in practice over the next couple of weeks.

Game 1 - Vs. Westlake Blue - WIN

Nice first win! We started off a bit tentative on offense, but defense was consistently strong. Some areas to improve:

1. Keep hands out/up on defense

2. Don't lose your man on defense

3. Remember to box out when the shot goes up

4. If you're open in the paint - DON'T HESITATE TO SHOOT

5. Don't hug the ball - quickly pass, shoot, or dribble.

Impressive stats:

1. Every player got at least one steal

2. Every player got at least one rebound

Final Score: Inferno 34, Westlake Blue 22.

Game Schedule

Our first two games are Saturday, 11/19 and Monday, 11/21. Thankfully, we don't have to travel too far. These first two games will be held at PG High School. Check the game schedule for more details.
